Chapter 1
Alice and the White Rabbit
Alice is a kind and curious girl. She likes new places, people and animals. She wants to know many things.
Today Alice is in a beautiful garden with her sister. It is a beautiful day. There are big trees and many flowers. There is green grass. Birds sing in the trees. Alice likes the garden. Her sister likes the garden too.

Alice is in the garden with her sister
Alice’s sister has a book. She sits under a big tree and reads. She likes her book. Alice looks at the book. The book has many words. The book has no pictures.
“A good book has pictures,” Alice says. “A good book has animals. I like animals. I do not like this book.”
Alice sits on the grass. She looks at the flowers. Then she looks at the trees. She looks at the birds. She looks at the sun. It is a good day, but Alice is not happy. She wants something new. She wants something interesting. She closes her eyes for a short time.
Then Alice hears something.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
She opens her eyes. She looks at the flowers. She looks at the trees. Then she sees a rabbit.
The rabbit is white. Alice smiles. She likes rabbits. But this rabbit is not like other rabbits. This rabbit is strange. The rabbit has a blue coat and a watch. The rabbit looks at the watch.

The Rabbit’s watch
“Oh dear!” the rabbit says. “I am late!”
Alice stands up very quickly.
“A rabbit can talk!” she says. “A rabbit has a watch! This rabbit is very strange!”
The rabbit puts the watch into his pocket. Then he runs.
Alice looks at her sister.
Her sister is still reading. She does not look at the rabbit. She does not hear the rabbit. She does not know about the rabbit.
Alice looks at the rabbit again.
“I want to know more about this rabbit,” she says. “Where does he go? Why can he talk? Why does he have a watch?”

Alice runs after the white rabbit
The rabbit runs between the flowers. Alice runs after him. The rabbit runs under the trees. Alice runs after him. The rabbit runs again. Alice runs again. Sometimes Alice can see the little white rabbit. Sometimes the rabbit is behind the flowers. Then Alice can see him again. She does not stop. She wants to find the rabbit.
The rabbit comes to a very big tree. There is a big hole under the tree. The rabbit does not stop. He goes into the hole.
Alice looks into it. The hole is dark and long. She cannot see the end.
Alice thinks. “I can go home,” she says. “Or I can follow the rabbit.” She looks at the hole again. She wants to know.
Alice goes into the hole. She falls.
Down… Down… Down…
The fall is long, but it is not fast. Alice can look around. She sees books, bottles and boxes. She sees another book.
She sees another bottle. She sees another box.
“This is a strange place,” Alice says.
She sees a bottle near her. She takes the bottle. She looks at the bottle. She puts the bottle in a box. Then she falls again.
Down… Down… Down…
At last Alice sees light. Then the fall stops.

Chapter 2
The Little Door
Alice is in a big room. “Where is the rabbit?” she says. Then she hears the rabbit again.
Tap… Tap… Tap…
Alice smiles. She walks to the sound. Then she stops. She cannot see the rabbit.
There are many doors in the room. She walks to one door. She tries to open it. It does not open. She walks to another door. It does not open. She walks to another door. It does not open. Alice tries every door. Every door is closed.
“There are many doors,” Alice says. “Maybe there is one more door.”
Alice looks around. Then she sees a little glass table. “What is this?” she says. “This is a little table.” There is one thing on the table. It is a little key. Alice takes the key. “This key is for a little door,” she says.

Every door is closed
She walks to this door. The key does not open this door. She tries another door. Again, the key does not open the door. Alice looks around again. Then she sees a little curtain by the wall. “What is that?” she says. She opens the curtain. “There is a little door here!” Alice smiles. “This is the right door.”
She puts the key into the lock. The door opens. Alice looks. There is a beautiful garden there. There are green trees. There are beautiful flowers. There are little birds. The sun is warm.
“I want to go there,” Alice says.
She tries to go through the little door. But she cannot. She is too big.
“This door is too small,” she says. “Those trees are beautiful. Those flowers are beautiful. I want to go there.”
Alice sits on the floor. She looks at the garden again. Then she closes the little door and walks back to the table.

There is a beautiful garden there
Now there is a bottle on the table. “A moment ago there was only a key,” Alice says. “Now there is a bottle.” She takes the bottle. There are two words on the bottle:
“DRINK ME”

The bottle
Alice smiles. “The bottle says, ‘Drink!’” She drinks a little. She waits. Nothing happens. She drinks again. The drink is sweet. Alice likes the drink. She drinks again. Soon the bottle is empty. She puts the bottle on the table.
Then Alice looks at the table. “The table is very big.” She looks at her hands. “These hands are very small.” She looks at her shoes. “These shoes are very big.” Alice laughs.
“It is not the table,” she says. “It is me. I am very small now. Now I can go there!”
Alice runs to the little door. Then she stops. “Oh no!” The key is on the table. “It is there. I am here. I cannot take the key.” She tries to take it. She jumps. She tries again. But she cannot take the key.
Then Alice sees a little box. “What is this?” she says. She opens the box. There is a little cake. There are two words on the cake:
“EAT ME”
Alice smiles.
“The cake says, ‘Eat!’” she says. Then she looks at the cake again.
“What is next?” she says.
