Для меня Драйзер начинался с «Сестры Керри». И оказался немного слащавым. Поэтому первую часть трилогии (да-да, Вас ещё ждёт «Титан» и «Стоик») восприняла с сдержанным скептицизмом. И, кстати, абсолютно зря))) здесь сохранилась присущая Драйзеру скрупулёзность в описаниях деталей. И это просто завораживает. Жизнь дана уже без прекрас и Хэппи эндов, но тем интереснее становится. Тема биржевых спекуляций расписана там до мелочей. Захватывающее наблюдать, как герой богатеет, все теряет и так по кругу. А как это актуально сейчас, когда инвестиции и игра на бирже набирают обороты. Рекомендую всем, кто хочет по-другому взглянуть на тему денег в своей жизни.
